PLEASE NOTE: MCCE does not provide individual stipends to teachers for its professional development. Please check with your district point of contact for questions around stipend eligibility and availability. MCCE does provide free CPD credit. Computer Science workshops will be offered at NO COST to all Maryland Public school teachers who are approved by their district and accepted into the program. Private school teachers who serve under-represented and under-served communities may be qualified for scholarships. Others can participate for a fee. Apply now!

| CS Discoveries (also called ECS or FOCS) |
Computer Science Discoveries is an introductory computer science course for 6 - 10th grade students. Mapped to CTSA standards, the course takes a wide lens on computer science by covering topics such as problem-solving, programming, physical computing, user-centered design, and data, while inspiring students as they build their own websites, apps, animations, games, and physical computing systems. This course is also known in Maryland as FOCS. (30+ hours of PD with 4 follow-up sessions during the school year) 2 CPD credits for summer and 1 CPD for follow-up sessions. |

| Applying CS Discoveries | The curriculum changes slightly from year to year, and teachers have so many excellent ideas to share. Join the community and enrich your class for next year. For those who have already taught CS-Discoveries, this update workshop will cover updates to the Code.org 23-24 curriculum with successful strategies for engaging students, and an opportunity to share best practices. 0.5 CPD credit. |

| AP CS Principles | Computer Science Principles is an AP(R) level course that was designed to cover the breadth of computer science for students with a wide variety of interests. Using the Code.org curriculum that includes online units and a teacher dashboard, It can count as a tech credit in Maryland or as part of the CS pathway. (30+ hours of PD with 4 follow-up sessions during the school year. ) 2 CPD credits for summer and 1 CPD for follow up sessions. |

| Project Excite: a Tech Ed integrated CS Principles Course |
The NSF funded Project ExCITE has enhanced the Beauty and Joy of Computing (BJC)AP-CSP approved curriculum by the addition of computer control and robotic activities based on real-world hands-on problem-solving challenges. This course combines STEM and Computer Science to prepare students for careers in the fastest-growing job sector in the US! And, the curriculum is completely free to use! | AP Computer Science A - Java | AP® Computer Science A (AP CSA) is a Java programming course aligned to the College Board with content at an introductory college computer science level. Fundamental topics in this course include the design of solutions to problems, the use of data structures to organize large sets of data, the development and implementation of algorithms to process data and discover new information, the analysis of potential solutions, and the ethical and social implications of computing systems. Code.org’s curriculum is being built with equity at the heart of its design. 2 CPD credits for summer and 1 CPD for follow up sessions. |

| Teaching Cybersecurity for High School (full course) |
This workshop will prepare high school instructors to deliver a full year cybersecurity curricula. This free curriculum at teachcyber.org is based on a robust cybersecurity framework to provide a broad and deep understanding of cybersecurity concepts. Syllabus is available here. | Mobile app development in Java | Mobile Application Development with Java - Apply skills from AP Computer Science A to program features and classes in Java used in Android mobile application development. Key Java programming language features: flow of execution through an app with loops and conditional statements; enabling access to structured data arrays and common classes in the Java Collections Framework; grouping related operations and data into classes and interfaces; customizing the behavior of existing classes via inheritance and polymorphism, using data storage and retrieval solutions for Android. Students will apply these Java features within Android Studio to develop programs and deployable Android apps. Several hands-on projects are included where they will design and develop original apps. 2 CPD credits. |

Your Voice is Power is a project-based curriculum that introduces the fundamentals of computer science to students through an exploration of music and social change. Across five learning modules lasting about 1-week, students engage in fun activities and thought-provoking discussions to learn how these topics intersect. Students are encouraged to explore how music, coding, and entrepreneurship can be tools to advance social change. 1 CPD credit |

| Create a Drone Club for Elementary | This workshop will demonstrate how to use drones either in your classroom as an enrichment activity or during an after-school program and will include information about funding.
